UK MoD police arrest two Latvians near RAF Molesworth

Reported · Written up by our desk · Europe

UK Ministry of Defence security patrols arrested two Latvian men near RAF Molesworth, a Royal Air Force base located 112km, about 70 miles, north of London, police said on Thursday.

RAF Molesworth in Cambridgeshire houses US and Nato intelligence operations, and is operated by the US Air Force, with intelligence staff from the US Africa Command and the Nato Intelligence Fusion Centre.

The men, aged 36 and 32, were arrested at around 2am after UK MoD Police and Cambridgeshire constabulary found a small hole in the perimeter fence, according to police.

They were arrested on suspicion of trespassing on a prohibited site, criminal damage, and entering a prohibited place for a purpose prejudicial to the UK.
