USD/JPY rebounds sharply after September low, faces range cap

Societe Generale strategists say USD/JPY has been moving sideways between 156.35 and 159, and a break of that range would be the trigger for a clearer next direction.

Societe Generale strategists, highlighted in an FXStreet market briefing, pointed to a sharp rebound in USD/JPY from a September low near 152.90, noting that the pair is now capped by key moving averages.

They described USD/JPY as trading in a sideways pattern between 156.35 and 159, and said a break of that range would help confirm the pair’s next direction.

The briefing also tied near term currency focus to the latest FOMC minutes and Bank of Japan commentary, with attention on yields and rate expectations.
