USS Abraham Lincoln returns to San Diego after 265-day deployment
The carrier returned following a record-long, 265 uninterrupted days at sea supporting the Iran war, during which reports described deteriorating conditions among its crew.
The USS Abraham Lincoln is scheduled to return to San Diego Bay on Thursday after supporting the Iran war during a record-long deployment of 265 uninterrupted days at sea, Associated Press reported, citing reports of deteriorating conditions among crew members.
Associated Press said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth flew to the carrier on Wednesday to present the crew with the Presidential Unit Citation, described as the highest honor a unit can receive that is typically reserved for significant combat achievement.
Hegseth also pushed back on efforts to portray the Lincoln as a symbol of dysfunction, low morale, or a failed mission, according to Associated Press.
