XRP’s circulating supply may overstate what buyers can actually access
CryptoSlate, citing XRP Insights, counted 21.97 billion XRP in exchange-attributed wallets at 08:00 UTC on Oct. 8 across 699 wallets and 24 venues.
For XRP buyers, the amount available to purchase depends not just on total circulating supply, but on the size of sell orders at the prices buyers are willing to pay, according to CryptoSlate.
CryptoSlate cited XRP Insights data showing 21.97 billion XRP held in exchange-attributed wallets as of 08:00 UTC on Oct. 8, spread across 699 wallets and 24 venues. The balances included pooled customer assets and cold storage.
CryptoSlate also pointed to liquidity snapshots, noting that an Oct. 8 CoinGecko view of order-book depth showed about $2.4 million for Binance XRP/USDT and $4.0 million for Coinbase XRP/USD, with the figures tied to how orders change over a price range.
The outlet said circulating supply around 63.09 billion tokens on Oct. 8 can differ from other supply definitions, with XRP Insights using a broader measure of 68.59 billion XRP outside Ripple escrow after burns, and 31.40 billion still escrowed.
