Oracle trucks compressed natural gas to AI data centers as pipelines lag
The company is paying about four times hub prices for trucked supply while pipelines are built out, underscoring how schedule pressure is driving natural gas logistics.
Oracle is trucking compressed natural gas to AI data centers in Utah and Texas, while pipeline infrastructure is still under development, according to Bloomberg, as summarized by Forexlive.
The report also says Oracle may use trucked gas to serve a delayed New Mexico site tied to Project Jupiter, where a force majeure notice has raised the risk of disputes and delays.
Forexlive notes that shares of Oracle fell about 5.5%, with investors said to be sensitive to any sign that power and fuel constraints could affect AI capacity timelines and delay the company’s path to positive free cash flow.
For natural gas deliveries, the report adds that trucked supply costs about four times hub prices, a level it frames as a sign that some AI developers are less price sensitive when timing is at stake.
