Bitcoin Core developer says quantum readiness beats fear-driven claims

Bitcoin Magazine says Chaincode Labs contributor Antoine Poinsot argued that security research should rely on evidence, not viral fear, when discussing AI and quantum computing risks to Bitcoin address security.

Bitcoin Magazine covered a response from Bitcoin Core contributor Antoine Poinsot of Chaincode Labs to a viral post by Justin Drake that raised concerns about how AI and quantum computing could affect Bitcoin address security.

In the video segment, Poinsot focused on why security researchers should back claims with evidence, and what he said is actually at stake regarding quantum computing risk rather than fear-driven messaging.

The discussion also pointed to the idea that preparing early matters more than reacting out of fear, and included references to past Bitcoin development lessons such as what the failed summer soft fork taught, plus related consensus and soft fork work.

The episode further described technical topics Poinsot addressed, including what “BIP 54 consensus cleanup” is intended to do and why multiple fixes may be bundled into a single soft fork to build consensus.
