Blockchain.com seeks CFTC approval for U.S. prediction markets
The company has applied for DCM and FCM licenses that would let it operate its own regulated event-contract venue, ahead of a planned $500 million IPO.
Blockchain.com is seeking U.S. regulatory approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to offer event contracts tied to prediction markets and to trade cryptocurrency derivatives, according to coverage by CNBC.
The company is applying for CFTC designations and registration, including designated contract market and futures commission merchant licenses, which would allow it to run a regulated venue for the event contracts instead of relying on overseas partners, Decrypt reports.
Blockchain.com’s filing also comes as it prepares for a planned $500 million IPO, with the licenses positioned to support its U.S. prediction market and crypto derivatives business.
