British Museum ceramics damaged after bowl fell from shelf

The museum said the incident occurred on October 4 and that shelf and mount showed no signs of failure as it continues investigating how the damage happened.

The British Museum said two Chinese ceramics displayed in the museum were damaged and are now undergoing restoration after a bowl fell from its shelf, landing on a smaller box on a lower shelf, according to a report by SCMP Economy.

The outlet said the museum confirmed the objects have been moved to its expert conservation team for complete restoration, following the October 4 incident.

The museum added that the shelf and mount showed no signs of failure, and it will continue investigating how the pieces were damaged while on display.
