EU to back 46 critical minerals projects to 2030 amid China tension
Industry commissioner Stéphane Séjourné warned the EU could face a trade crisis in coming months and said preparations start now.
The European Union will support 46 new strategic projects to accelerate supplies of critical raw materials by 2030, as industry commissioner Stéphane Séjourné said the bloc is preparing for potential trade tensions with China.
Speaking Friday, Séjourné said the EU could face a crisis in the coming months and that trade tensions could spread across multiple sectors, prompting the bloc to get ready now.
The backed projects include plants aimed at supplying lithium, gallium, and rare earths, according to the report.
