NS&I lifts returns on British savings bonds to above 5%

The rates range from 4.99% to 5.17% for one-, two-, three-, or five-year fixed British savings bonds.

National Savings and Investments has increased the fixed returns on its “British savings bonds,” with rates now set between 4.99% and 5.17%.

The updated bonds offer those fixed interest rates across one-, two-, three-, and five-year terms, and the change follows a broader rise in competition in the UK savings market.

Rachel Springall at Moneyfactscompare.co.uk said attractive savings deals may not last, noting that if a provider attracts enough savings cash, it can pull the product from sale.
