Dollar slips broadly as Treasury yields retreat
The US 10-year yield fell below 5.19% from a 5.365% peak, but an IMF warning keeps investors cautious ahead of Wednesday’s US CPI.
The US dollar weakened broadly but modestly on Tuesday, slipping against all seven major counterparts as Treasury yields extended their retreat from last week’s highs, Action Forex reports.
The 10-year yield fell below 5.19%, down from a 5.365% peak, with softer oil prices and renewed concerns over AI-sector valuations cited as contributing factors.
Action Forex also notes that the selling lacked conviction, as broader equity markets showed mixed reactions to the technology selloff.
The IMF’s latest Global Financial Stability Report warned that structural risks, including elevated government debt, persistent inflation risks and rising borrowing requirements, could still trigger a disorderly increase in sovereign bond yields, with Wednesday’s US CPI report described as the immediate test for whether the Treasury recovery can continue.
