Equity release market set to reach $52.1B annually by 2035
A survey by EPPARG and EY projects the market will grow from $17.7B today, with North America expected to drive much of the expansion as the U.S. and U.K. become the largest markets by annual volume.
EPPARG and EY project global equity release volumes will rise to $52.1 billion by 2035, up from $17.7 billion currently, according to HousingWire.
HousingWire reports the report says the growth outlook is supported by aging populations and demand for retirement funding, even as it notes the market has remained resilient amid geopolitical challenges and elevated interest rates.
The survey forecasts that North America will account for much of the projected growth, with the U.S. and U.K. expected to become the largest equity release markets by annual volume.
HousingWire adds that the findings were based on data for 2025-26 from participants in 14 countries and cities across Europe, North America, Australia and Hong Kong, and were adopted at an EPPARG meeting in Madrid, Spain, on Sept. 29.
