Hurricane Simon likely stayed outside Mexico parametric trigger zones

An analysis cited by Artemis says the storm’s minimum central pressure fell enough to make a payout possible if the track had crossed the parametric boxes.

Artemis reported that Hurricane Simon, whose track shifted west, appears to have remained offshore of the parametric trigger zones tied to the $175 million IBRD CAR Mexico 2024 (Pacific) catastrophe bond.

According to Artemis, analysis by Isacco Loconte at Azimut Switzerland SA says Simon’s minimum central pressure deepened to a level that could have activated a payout if the storm had crossed into the trigger boxes, but the storm diverted away just before breaching any of them.

The outlet added that Loconte interpolated the hurricane’s path using National Hurricane Center data and concluded it was a very close call, but not close enough to trigger a payout in this case.
