The 178,000-square-foot, three-story complex features specialized teaching and research labs, a 236-seat lecture hall, and pilot-scale processing spaces.
Kansas State University celebrated the Sept. 18 opening of the Western Star Global Grain and Food Center, a 178,000-square-foot, three-story facility described by university and government officials as the largest agricultural construction project in the school’s history.
World Grain reports the center is intended to give students space to collaborate, work with new technologies, and learn alongside faculty and industry professionals.
The complex includes specialized teaching and research laboratories, pilot-scale processing spaces, flexible interdisciplinary research areas, a 236-seat lecture hall, and designated collaboration spaces, along with the Ardent Mills milling teaching laboratory and the Lallemand baking teaching laboratory.
Kansas State University also highlighted Willie’s Pride flour, a locally milled brand produced by its Department of Grain Science and Industry.
