S&P 500 bull-market anniversary highlights 117% rally since 2022
CFRA estimates the index could average a 21% gain if the uptrend carries into a fifth year.
The S&P 500 is marking a milestone from a four-year rally that has pushed the benchmark up 117%, making it the third-longest and third-largest bull market since 1947, according to Action Forex.
The outlet, citing CFRA, says if the uptrend extends into a fifth year, the index’s average gain is 21%, pointing to upside that would go beyond a rally confined to technology stocks.
Action Forex links the resilience of markets to shifting monetary conditions and liquidity, noting bull markets typically begin when the Federal Reserve eases policy, while the Fed’s aggressive 2022 rate rises still did not stop the index from starting an upward trend.
The piece attributes much of the momentum to the AI boom, saying companies’ market capitalisation has risen by $40 trillion, with Nvidia up 1,900% and market value approaching $6 trillion, even as the Fed begins a new cycle of monetary tightening.
