B3 launches options on bitcoin, ether, and solana futures
The new options, available from July 6, settle into regulated bitcoin, ether, and solana futures rather than spot tokens, with bitcoin priced in reais and ether and solana priced in U.S. dollars.
Brazil’s B3 stock exchange has introduced options on bitcoin, ether, and solana futures as part of its expanding regulated crypto derivatives lineup, according to CoinDesk.
The contracts became available for trading on July 6. They offer call and put options on bitcoin futures denominated in Brazilian reais, while ether and solana futures are denominated in U.S. dollars, CoinDesk reported.
B3 said the options settle into the underlying futures contracts rather than the spot cryptoassets themselves, and do not involve custody, transfer, or administration of tokens. Exercise is automatic at expiration when an option finishes in the money unless the holder blocks exercise, the report added.
The new products trade independently from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. local time and reference Nasdaq crypto indexes. CoinDesk said the launch gives local traders and asset managers a regulated venue to hedge crypto exposure, trade volatility, and build structured positions without relying on offshore crypto options markets.
