Liberty Mutual appoints Gareth Rees to lead Global Transaction Solutions
Rees takes the role on July 1, 2026, succeeding Rowan Bamford as Liberty Mutual prepares GTS for its next stage of development.
Liberty Mutual Insurance Group has appointed Gareth Rees as Global Lines Leader for its Global Transaction Solutions (GTS) business, effective July 1, 2026. The insurer said Rees will be based in London and will report to Thomas Leahy, Global Product Leader for Financial Lines.
In the new role, Rees will work with GTS teams across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas. Liberty Mutual said his responsibilities include advancing GTS strategic objectives as the business moves into its next stage and further strengthening GTS’s transactional liability proposition.
The company said Rees has been instrumental in developing GTS’s global business, including a prior stint as Chief Underwriting Officer over the past six years. He joined Liberty Mutual in 2015 after a series of senior roles, and Liberty Mutual described him as a former corporate lawyer with experience advising on mergers and acquisitions across multiple sectors.
Liberty Mutual said Rees succeeds Rowan Bamford, who left the business to pursue new opportunities. In a statement carried by Reinsurance News, Leahy said the insurer is confident GTS will continue providing specialist expertise and agile solutions for clients and brokers in what Liberty Mutual called an increasingly complex transactional risk environment.
