Oil rises as U.S.-Iran strikes flare near the Strait of Hormuz

Stock-index futures slipped even as oil prices rose amid continued tit-for-tat attacks involving the U.S. and Iran around the Strait of Hormuz.

Oil prices rose while U.S. stock-index futures moved lower after another round of tit-for-tat strikes between the United States and Iran over the weekend, MarketWatch reported.

The renewed flare-up centered on activity near the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping chokepoint for global oil flows.

MarketWatch said oil climbed as the conflict continued, while investors appeared to weigh the risk of broader market impact, reflected in the decline in stock-index futures.
