U.S. widens oil output lead over Russia and Saudi Arabia

U.S. crude and condensate production averaged 13.586 million barrels per day in 2025, or 15.8% of total global output, data cited from the Energy Institute shows.

OilPrice reports the United States has extended its lead as the world’s top oil producer, pulling further ahead of Russia and Saudi Arabia supported by U.S. shale growth and Permian expansion.

The outlet points to Energy Institute data indicating that U.S. domestic oil demand recovered in 2025 to near the 2018 peak and close to pre-COVID levels, while U.S. crude oil and condensate production averaged 13.586 million barrels per day in 2025.

OilPrice says the same dataset shows Russia’s crude plus condensate production averaged 10.161 million barrels per day last year, down 0.6% year over year, with an 11.8% share of global production.

Saudi Arabia’s crude oil and condensate output averaged 9.727 million barrels per day in 2025, up 5.7% annually, while Russia and Saudi production were described as constrained by factors including the Iran war and strikes affecting Russian energy assets, respectively.
