China new home prices ease but stay in fifth year of decline
June new home prices fell 3.3% year-on-year, easing from May's 3.5% decline, while monthly prices slipped 0.1% after a 0.2% drop.
China's new home prices kept falling in June, but the pace of decline eased slightly, extending a property downturn that has now lasted into its fifth year, according to National Bureau of Statistics data cited by Forexlive.
New home prices dropped 3.3% year-on-year in June, improving from a 3.5% decline in May, and were down 0.1% month-on-month, easing from the prior month's 0.2% fall.
The update highlights that, despite June's marginal improvement, the broader trend remains weak, with few of the 70 major cities tracked by the NBS showing year-on-year price gains so far in 2026.
Forexlive also pointed to further deterioration in the secondary market, sharp declines in new home sales by both floor area and value, and reduced developer investment, alongside lower construction starts and completions in the first five months of the year.
