Social Security increases hiring after DOGE cuts, focuses on technology
The agency is working to ease staff workloads after the departure of about 7,800 employees by improving technology and rebuilding its workforce.
A year after the DOGE program cut staffing at the Social Security Administration, the agency is quietly hiring workers again, according to a NYT Business account.
The report says SSA leadership is also prioritizing technology upgrades aimed at reducing the burdens that remained after the departure of roughly 7,800 staff members.
The changes are framed as part of an effort to stabilize operations while workloads left by earlier staffing reductions are addressed through both added headcount and improved systems.
