Canopius appoints Melanie Brown as Head of US Claims
The new role begins August 3, 2026, with Brown reporting to Canopius Group’s incoming Chief Claims Officer Steve Parry.
Canopius Group has appointed Melanie Brown as Head of US Claims, effective August 3, 2026, as the specialty insurer and reinsurer looks to expand its US claims operations. In the role, Brown will lead Canopius’s US claims function, aiming to deliver quality outcomes for policyholders and brokers while reinforcing disciplined claims management across the business. She will report to Steve Parry, the incoming Chief Claims Officer for Canopius Group.
Brown previously served as Head of Complex and Specialty Claims at Munich Re Specialty North America, where she oversaw strategy for managing high exposure claims and initiatives intended to improve claims performance and efficiency.
Canopius’s acting US chief executive, Lindsay Astor, said Brown’s experience across specialty, property and casualty, and reinsurance claims makes her suited to support Canopius’s US business. Brown said she is joining as the business looks to grow across the US and expects to work with underwriters and claims partners to ensure claims are paid fairly and quickly.
