DoorDash integrates Shopify for delivery from local brick-and-mortar shops

DoorDash says the Shopify connection automates product and inventory alignment, letting retailers add a DoorDash sales channel without manual catalog uploads.

DoorDash announced a deeper retail push by integrating with Shopify for independent merchants that have both an online catalog and a physical store. The companies said the integration allows shop owners to add their product catalog to the DoorDash marketplace through the Shopify app store, with no separate onboarding process or manual catalog uploads.

Yahoo Finance reports that the rollout targets small-and-medium local businesses as a next growth category for DoorDash’s delivery platform, which has been expanding beyond restaurant meals into other retail categories.

The delivery company said products and inventory are automatically aligned in its system so orders match what retailers have on shelf, reducing retailers’ need to manage stock levels. DoorDash previously expanded its network with efforts that included a partnership with Autoparts.com and deals involving retailers such as Sephora, CVS, and Party City via its DashMart fulfillment services.
