Italian police raid luxury brand offices over Chinese worker exploitation
Authorities said none of the nine brands is under investigation and prosecutors have not sought court-appointed administration.
Italian police carried out raids at the offices of luxury brands including Bulgari and Chanel as prosecutors investigated suspicions that the companies relied on subcontractors employing Chinese workers, according to SCMP Economy. Prosecutor Paolo Storari, from Milan, also named other brands whose offices were targeted, including Brunello Cucinelli, Etro, Goyard Italie, Jacob Cohen Company, Moncler, and Stefano Ricci.
A judicial document reviewed by Reuters, cited in the report, said none of the nine companies is under investigation. It also said prosecutors have not sought court-appointed administration for any of the brands.
In a statement, Brunello Cucinelli said it was surprised and deeply saddened that some of the materials intended for packaging were found at an unsuitable workplace. The company said it conducted supplier checks and paid fair pricing, and it pledged full cooperation to protect workers and the wider Made in Italy brand.
The raids took place on Thursday, and the operation was described as the second of its kind. SCMP Economy said Carabinieri labour unit in Milan conducted a similar operation in December 2025 at the headquarters of 13 other luxury brands over comparable issues.
