Aon names David Crofts global head for capital solutions role
The appointment takes effect 1 August 2026 and tasks Crofts with advising financial sponsors and other capital providers on insurance and reinsurance investment opportunities.
Aon has appointed David Crofts as Global Head of Capital Solutions for Financial Sponsors, effective 1 August 2026, the professional services firm said. In the role, Crofts will work with financial sponsors, sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds, and other capital providers looking to access insurance-related opportunities across the sector.
Aon said the work will include investments spanning property and casualty insurance and reinsurance, as well as life insurance and wealth-related opportunities. Crofts will report to Joe Peiser, CEO of Risk Capital for Aon.
Crofts rejoined Aon in 2025 as Head of Financial Sponsors for EMEA, after previously spending nearly six years at the firm as a Managing Director in its Global Risk Consulting business. Between his two Aon tenures, he spent almost eight years at Mubadala Investment Company as Executive Director for Enterprise Risk Management.
Aon said the appointment reflects a focus on helping financial sponsor clients access and evaluate investment opportunities across the insurance and reinsurance ecosystem, citing growing investor interest in insurance-related returns. Peiser said Crofts brings experience from both investing and risk management, while Crofts said Aon is seeing significant engagement from investors seeking exposure across the insurance ecosystem.
