Citadel Securities makes $400 million strategic investment in Crypto.com
The deal values Crypto.com at $20 billion and is set to fund expansion into tokenized securities, derivatives, prediction markets, and other real world assets.
Citadel Securities is making a $400 million strategic investment in Crypto.com, valuing the Singapore-based exchange at $20 billion, according to Decrypt.
The investment will be Crypto.com’s first institutional funding round since the platform launched a decade ago, and the exchange says the capital will support expansion into tokenized securities, derivatives, prediction markets, and other real-world assets.
Decrypt notes the move comes about eight days after Citadel dropped a long-running crypto lawsuit, and frames it as the firm shifting from a cautious posture toward deeper involvement in crypto market infrastructure.
Citadel CEO Kris Marszalek characterized the opportunity around the scale of crypto’s role in finance, with Decrypt saying the investment is focused on building 24/7 “rails” rather than buying Bitcoin.
