Coca-Cola suspends Fairlife production after cyberattack

Coca-Cola said the incident was tied to a ransomware event, and it has notified law enforcement while working with outside cybersecurity advisers.

Coca-Cola has temporarily suspended Fairlife milk production operations in the United States after an unauthorized third party gained access to some of its systems, Insurance Journal reports. The company said the cyberattack was connected to a ransomware event.

In a statement, Coca-Cola said the third party accessed some production related systems in the US, but product quality and safety were not affected. The company also said the full scope, nature, and impacts of the incident were still unknown.

Coca-Cola said it notified law enforcement and is working with outside advisers and cybersecurity experts. The company also said the attack did not impact Fairlife’s Canadian production operations.

Coca-Cola fully acquired Fairlife from Select Milk Producers in 2020 for about $7 billion, expanding its portfolio with a high protein offering, according to Insurance Journal.
