Opera Tech Ventures joins $135 million funding for Alpaca
The new package totals $435 million, including $300 million in debt financing, and follows Alpaca’s January Series D at a $1.15 billion valuation.
Opera Tech Ventures, the venture capital arm of BNP Paribas, took part in a new $135 million funding round for Alpaca, a provider of brokerage infrastructure APIs used by financial institutions and fintechs.
Peak XV led the round, with participation from Elefund, Opera Tech Ventures, Unbound and other investors. In addition to the equity raise, Alpaca secured $300 million in debt financing primarily from Payward, the parent company of Kraken, and BMO, bringing the overall financing package to $435 million.
The funding comes after Alpaca raised a $150 million Series D in January, which valued the company at $1.15 billion. Opera Tech Ventures also participated in that round.
Alpaca said it will use the new capital to expand its brokerage and prime brokerage infrastructure. The company also reported doubling revenue annually for three straight years and supporting more than $1.5 billion in underlying stocks backing tokenized equities, according to Coverager.
