Trump accuses China of election data compromise and interference
Trump also alleged China sought to influence US business leaders and journalists to turn against him, tying the claims to national security and election integrity
In a prime-time address, SCMP Economy reports that US President Donald Trump launched a wide-ranging attack on China, accusing Beijing of orchestrating what he called the largest compromise of election data in history.
Trump framed the alleged interference as a national security threat and said the US would end complacency in the face of Chinese interference, according to SCMP Economy.
He also accused China of trying to sway US business leaders and journalists to turn against him, and alleged that China targeted his political survival during his first term.
The speech, SCMP Economy said, combined the election integrity warnings with escalating tensions over Iran and domestic warnings ahead of the midterm elections.
