Ameritas appoints Bob MacDonald and Gaurav Mehra to senior VP roles
The new senior vice presidents are focused on enterprise planning and on building data driven, AI enabled marketing capabilities across Ameritas' business lines.
Ameritas has named Bob MacDonald senior vice president of strategic planning and Gaurav Mehra senior vice president of marketing, with both appointments now in effect, according to Insurance Business.
MacDonald will continue leading strategic planning, including enterprise strategic planning, competitive intelligence, portfolio management and long term growth initiatives tied to Ameritas' capital allocation priorities. Ameritas said he has been overseeing the function since joining the mutual insurer, and that president and COO Sue Wilkinson credited him with helping shape areas of focus and providing structure and momentum for the company's enterprise strategy work.
Mehra will lead enterprise marketing strategy, digital experience, corporate communications and brand stewardship, with a stated emphasis on building data driven, AI enabled marketing capabilities across Ameritas' business lines. Wilkinson said Mehra's strategic mindset and collaborative approach, along with his ability to build high performing teams, position him to lead the marketing organization.
The appointments arrive as the life and annuity industry increases its use of artificial intelligence. Insurance Business cited Accenture research finding 93% of life insurers increased AI investment by at least 5% over the past three years, and 43% plan increases of more than 25% over the next three, while separate LIMRA-backed research found 87% of carriers already use AI in at least one operational area.
