Andrew and Tristan Tate seek to block UK extradition

A US district judge will weigh whether the brothers can meet extradition conditions, with a July 27 hearing set by a US magistrate.

Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan, will fight extradition to the United Kingdom over allegations of rape and sex trafficking, their lawyer said after the brothers appeared in US federal court for the first time since their arrest in Miami on Saturday, according to SCMP Economy. A US district judge will consider in the coming weeks whether the brothers meet the conditions for extradition. US Magistrate Lauren Louis set another hearing for July 27.

In court, neither brother spoke. Their lawyer, McBride, said they are objecting to extradition because the brothers are innocent, and he characterized the effort to extradite them as politically motivated, adding that the pair were surprised by their arrest.
