Grayscale to distribute cash from ETH and SOL staking rewards quarterly
The firm plans to amend the trust agreements for ETHE and GSOL around Aug. 7 to convert staking rewards into cash at least quarterly.
Grayscale plans to start making regular cash distributions from the staking rewards generated by its Ether and Solana exchange-traded products, according to Cointelegraph. In filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the asset manager said it intends to amend the trust agreements for the Grayscale Ethereum Staking ETF (ETHE) and the Grayscale Solana Staking ETF (GSOL) around Aug. 7.
The amendments would require each trust to convert staking rewards into cash no less often than quarterly and distribute net proceeds to shareholders. Grayscale said the amount of each distribution cannot be predicted because it will depend on staking rewards earned during the period and expenses deducted by the trusts.
Cointelegraph reports that Grayscale made its first ETHE staking distribution on Jan. 5, paying shareholders about $0.08 per share from the sale of rewards. Grayscale enabled staking for its ETH and SOL products on Oct. 6, 2025, describing the approach as a way to give holders recurring access to yield generated by the underlying assets.
Cointelegraph also noted that Grayscale cited Internal Revenue Service rules to explain the changes. The outlet said ETHE ended the week with $1.22 billion in net assets, while GSOL had $101.13 million, and that gross staking rewards were listed at 2.67% for Ethereum as of July 17 and 6.10% for Solana.
