Malaysia targets 600,000 South Korean visitors under Visit Malaysia 2026
Tourism officials said arrivals from South Korea have not yet recovered to pre-pandemic levels, when the country welcomed more than 600,000 visitors.
Malaysia is aiming to lift South Korean arrivals to 600,000 this year as part of its Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, according to the Korea Times via SCMP Economy.
Officials said Malaysia welcomed about 558,000 South Korean visitors last year, and that the figure is still below pre-pandemic levels when arrivals exceeded 600,000.
The tourism push is designed to attract 47 million international visitors in 2026 amid uncertainty in the global travel industry, and it centers on the “Surreal Experiences” theme.
Tourism Malaysia described South Korea as a priority market, and said the campaign will promote authentic local experiences beyond Malaysia’s well-known beach resorts and city attractions.
