Sensex gains 1,110 points as Nifty tops 22,700 in rebound
Indian shares rose after technology buying following HCL Technologies’ September-quarter results, helped by a stronger rupee and a pullback in crude oil.
Indian markets rebounded on Tuesday as the Nifty 50 climbed 1.6% to close at 22,721 and the Sensex finished up 1.5%, gaining 1,110 points to 73,033, after a stretch of selling pressure, according to LiveMint Markets.
LiveMint Markets attributed the late rally to strong buying in technology stocks after HCL Technologies reported upbeat September-quarter performance, which helped kick off the September-quarter earnings season with an early positive surprise.
Other factors cited included a recovery in the domestic currency, a pullback in crude oil prices, and renewed interest in software stocks tied to a reassessment of the global AI-led trade amid concerns about elevated valuations.
The market also got a boost after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said she was willing to hear views on the securities transaction tax, lifting expectations that the levy could be reviewed.
