Malaysian ringgit holds in USD/MYR 4.05 to 4.10 range
Commerzbank links the steady outlook for USD/MYR to Malaysia’s 5.6% H1 growth and subdued inflation, while USD/MYR rose 0.6% to 4.10 last Friday.
Commerzbank analysts cited Malaysia’s stronger-than-expected Q2 GDP growth and a tame inflation backdrop as reasons the central bank can keep its policy rate unchanged at 2.75%, supporting a steady USD/MYR trading range.
USD/MYR has stayed largely contained between 4.05 and 4.10 since late June, with the pair edging higher as crude oil prices picked up.
Commerzbank said resilient domestic demand and AI-related exports are helping growth, while supply-chain disruptions and higher commodity prices tied to the Middle East conflict are key downside risks.
On FX flows, the analysts noted USD/MYR rose 0.6% to 4.10 last Friday and that the move tracked higher oil prices, with firm exports and sustained portfolio inflows cited as support.
