ARC Ltd. reports $13.5 million profit, premium up 26% in 2025

The African Risk Capacity affiliate said gross written premium rose to $48.6 million in 2025, while its expense ratio stood at 12% and operational costs fell 37%.

African Risk Capacity Limited, an insurer in the African Risk Capacity Group, reported its largest profit since inception, posting $13.5 million for the year ending 2025, according to Reinsurance News.

The company attributed the results to steps aimed at reinforcing underwriting discipline, restoring portfolio stability, and improving operational efficiency, and said gross written premium grew 26% year over year to $48.6 million in 2025.

ARC Ltd. reported nine payouts in 2025 worth $21.4 million in gross claims paid, with drought responses as the largest contributor, followed by cyclone and social protection and inclusive insurance.

Operational metrics also shifted, with the firm citing a net loss ratio of 92%, operational costs down 37%, and an expense ratio of 12%. The company also said it started offering flood insurance and strengthened several climate and agriculture-focused insurance and risk financing initiatives during 2025.
