AXA begins large-scale Microsoft 365 Copilot rollout to employees worldwide

The insurer says Copilot will be embedded in Teams, Outlook and Word as part of its AI-at-scale strategy, building on its earlier Secure GPT deployment.

AXA has started a large-scale rollout of Microsoft 365 Copilot to employees across the globe, extending its AI-at-scale strategy about three years after it introduced Secure GPT, its internal generative AI service, according to Insurance Business.

The new deployment embeds AI assistance into everyday Microsoft Office tools, including Teams, Outlook and Word, with AXA saying the goal is to help staff execute daily tasks more easily and collaborate across teams and geographies as the tool is introduced across the company.

Insurance Business reports that AXA built Secure GPT to give employees and business applications secure access to large language models built on Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service. The outlet notes AXA previously said the platform was rolled out to roughly 140,000 employees globally, though current tool usage has not been independently confirmed.

AXA said the initiative marks a milestone in its ambition to stay at the forefront of innovation, and it plans to accelerate a broader AI upskilling program alongside the rollout, aimed at strengthening employees’ practical and ethical AI competencies while keeping human oversight over key decisions, the outlet reported.
