Canopius appoints Stacey Alioto as Group COO

Alioto will start the role in September 2026, succeeding Kate Roy, who is retiring after five years as Group Chief Operating Officer.

Canopius Group, a global specialty property and casualty re/insurance company, has appointed Stacey Alioto as its new Group Chief Operating Officer, adding to its leadership team as it pursues international expansion and long-term growth.

Alioto, scheduled to take up the role in September 2026, will report directly to Group Chief Executive Officer Neil Robertson. She is joining from HSBC, where she previously served as Deputy Group Chief Operating Officer, according to Reinsurance News.

Canopius said Alioto brings more than 25 years of operational leadership experience across over 60 markets, including leading workforces of up to 10,000 people and managing substantial operational budgets. The company added that her background in organisational transformation and scalable business functions is intended to support efficiency improvements and future growth.

The appointment also marks a transition in the role, with Canopius noting that Alioto will take over from Kate Roy, who is retiring after five years as Group Chief Operating Officer. In its announcement, Canopius said Alioto will help leverage its Centre of Operational Excellence to automate processes and improve productivity and decision-making.
