Canopius names Stacey Alioto group COO effective September 2026
Alioto, joining from HSBC, will replace Kate Roy and is set to help drive efficiency through Canopius' Centre of Operational Excellence in Manchester as the reinsurer scales internationally.
Canopius Group has appointed Stacey Alioto as group chief operating officer, effective September 2026, the London-headquartered specialty property and casualty reinsurer said.
Alioto will report to CEO Neil Robertson and join the group leadership team. She is based in Chicago and comes from HSBC, where she served as deputy group chief operating officer, after more than 25 years at the bank leading operations across more than 60 markets.
Robertson said Alioto brings operational leadership aligned with the company's scalable growth plans, including support for its Centre of Operational Excellence, which is being built in Manchester. Canopius said the Manchester office opened permanently in April 2026 and is intended to support international expansion and process standardization.
Alioto succeeds Kate Roy, who joined Canopius in 2021 and is retiring after a five-year tenure as group COO. The appointment comes as Canopius reported a 16% rise in profit after tax to $467 million for the year ended December 31, 2025, with insurance contract premiums up 27% to $4.48 billion.
