Cross-border aviation insurance clears Yivtol eVTOL for Hong Kong

The policy enables Yivtol’s one-seater S-Zero to fly in Hong Kong for up to 50 minutes at up to 75 km/h under Hong Kong aviation insurance rules.

A cross-border aviation insurance policy has removed a key regulatory hurdle for a Shenzhen-based electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft to operate in Hong Kong, according to SCMP Economy.

Hong Kong requires aircraft to carry compliant aviation insurance before they can take off or land in the city. The new coverage is underwritten in Shenzhen and issued in neighbouring Hong Kong, a structure that the outlet says many mainland developers need to meet to enter the Hong Kong market.

The policy allows Yivtol’s S-Zero aircraft, a one-seater with a maximum payload of 90 kg, to fly for no more than 50 minutes at a top speed of 75 km/h. SCMP Economy reports the company shared a statement that included a screenshot of the insurance policy.
