Hegseth seeks $2 billion in war funding as Senate considers $67 billion aid

Forexlive reports US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is seeking $2 billion from Congress for urgent funding to replace equipment lost or damaged in combat. The outlet says the Senate must pass a $67 billion supplemental package for the broader effort.

The report ties the funding push to the administration’s case that US military operations have severely degraded Iran’s conventional capabilities. It notes that Hegseth echoed the President’s assessment, while outside analysts generally conclude Iran has suffered extensive losses to assets such as its navy, air defenses, missile sites, and military infrastructure.

Forexlive also says Iran is still assessed to retain the capability to launch missiles and drones and to carry out retaliatory attacks, pointing to continued disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and recent attacks on US forces. The outlet further adds that it was reported two officers have died recently, and about a hundred people were injured.
