Kazakhstan to halt crude transfers via Black Sea CPC terminal
Kazakhstan said oil loading operations at the CPC terminal will be suspended starting later Tuesday after tanker attacks raised safety concerns.
Kazakhstan confirmed it will halt crude transfers at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, or CPC, terminal on the Black Sea coast following a drone attack, escalating risks for tanker and pipeline operations, according to OilPrice citing Bloomberg.
The CPC terminal at Russia’s Novorossiysk will stop accepting piped supplies because tanker companies are too nervous to send ships to the facility, the report said, with the halt scheduled to begin later on Tuesday.
CPC also clarified that oil loading operations were suspended, no oil spill occurred, and no ignition of oil in cargo tanks was allowed, OilPrice reported.
The pipeline serves mainly Kazakh supply and also transports some Russian crude, and the outlet noted that the Kremlin blamed the attacks on Ukraine’s efforts to further destabilize global oil markets.
