Kemper appoints Eric Kappler president of property and casualty
Kappler will take over Kemper’s unified P&C organization, spanning specialty personal and commercial vehicle units and P&C claims operations, starting July 30.
Kemper has appointed Eric Kappler executive vice president and president of property and casualty, effective July 30, to lead the insurer’s unified P&C organization. His remit includes specialty personal and commercial vehicle businesses, as well as P&C claims operations, according to Coverager.
Kappler most recently served as president of Farmers Insurance subsidiary Bristol West, where he led Bristol West’s non-standard auto insurance business. Coverager also reports that he has more than two decades of experience in the P&C industry.
The change follows the departure of Matthew Hunton, and Kappler will report to Kemper President and CEO Stephen McAnena. Coverager adds that employees associated with the business have transitioned to Confie as part of the transaction.
Coverager reports that Kemper’s board has formed a search committee and started a comprehensive process to identify the company’s next CEO. The company said the work is part of broader community efforts supported by Kemper and The Kemper Foundation, including partnerships with Florida International University and bilingual literacy programs.
