Qumis launches attorney-certified AI agents for coverage analysis
The platform analyzes full insurance programs across 16 lines of business and returns citation-backed coverage conclusions, flagging uncertainty when evidence is incomplete.
US juries awarded more than $14.5 billion in nuclear verdicts in 2023, a 15-year high, underscoring how costly incorrect coverage determinations can be for brokers, carriers, and claims professionals, according to research firm Marathon Strategies.
To address that rising E&O risk, Chicago-based coverage intelligence platform Qumis launched attorney-certified AI agents that analyze entire insurance programs and produce coverage conclusions backed by citations tied to underlying policy language.
Qumis says the system runs a bench of specialist agents across 16 lines of business, including cyber, directors and officers liability, marine, and workers' compensation, then synthesizes the results into a single deliverable. The platform is designed to surface uncertainty rather than force a coverage call when evidence is incomplete.
The launch arrives as AI adoption in insurance expands, with Gallagher survey results cited by Insurance Business showing 63% of respondents had fully or partially operationalized AI in earlier 2026, up from 45% in 2025, while Qumis also positions Private Compute as a way to isolate customer data during each session.
