TSMC to lift chipmaking prices by up to 10% starting 2027

TSMC said pricing is being adjusted to offset higher costs for materials, manufacturing equipment, and overseas plant construction, with mature-node production also expected to see increases up to 10%.

TSMC plans to raise chipmaking prices by up to 10% beginning in 2027 to help offset rising costs tied to materials, manufacturing equipment, and overseas plant construction, according to Nikkei Asia citing multiple sources.

The base price increases are expected to range from 5% to 10% depending on the customer and product. Mature-node production, covering 12-nm, 16-nm, and 28-nm technologies, faces increases of up to 10%, the report said.

Negotiations began in June and were concluded in July, with the new pricing set to take effect at the start of 2027. TSMC did not comment on the pricing, a spokesperson told Reuters.

TSMC’s spokesperson described the company’s pricing strategy as strategic rather than opportunistic, while C.C. Wei had previously said the company would seek higher prices without abrupt hikes that some memory firms have imposed.
