White House signals possible new tariffs as some duties near expiry
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the administration is working to recreate parts of the global tariff framework as existing duties are set to expire.
CNBC Markets reports that U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer telegraphed that the Trump administration could move to impose new tariffs “soon.”
Greer’s comments came as the administration works to re-create a global tariff regime, with other duties scheduled to expire.
The remarks suggest timing around the end of existing tariffs could shape when new tariff actions are considered by the White House.
