Anthropic sues Abnormal AI over alleged logo trademark infringement
Anthropic is seeking Abnormal AI profits tied to the disputed logo, plus damages, court costs and attorney fees, and asks the court to bar further use of the branding.
Anthropic has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against AI-enabled cybersecurity startup Abnormal AI, alleging that Abnormal’s rebranded “A” logo is too similar to its own and is causing confusion among AI and cybersecurity customers.
According to the complaint, Anthropic says it raised the issue with Abnormal shortly after the startup’s redesign last year, and that the logo change is sparking confusion among the companies’ shared customer base.
In response, Anthropic told Axios that its primary goal is avoiding customer confusion and that it wants Abnormal to remove the “A” element from its smaller logo. The company added that it views litigation as a last resort, warning that trademark owners risk weakening rights if they do not challenge branding they believe is confusingly similar.
The lawsuit seeks profits attributable to the allegedly infringing logo, along with damages, court costs, and attorneys’ fees. Anthropic is also asking the court to stop Abnormal from continuing to use the disputed logo and related branding, while stating it is not challenging Abnormal’s full wordmark or branding that predated Abnormal’s 2025 rebrand.
