Google to lease 2.1 million square feet of Sunnyvale office space

The new plan follows two years of Google scaling back its office footprint, including a lease for about 1.5 million square feet across five of six buildings at Moffett Place.

Google is recommitting to a larger office presence in Sunnyvale, reversing a space-cutting approach it used over the past two years, according to ConnectCRE.

The outlet reports that Google, the core unit of Alphabet Inc., agreed to lease five of six buildings totaling about 1.5 million square feet at Moffett Place, described as Silicon Valley’s second-largest office complex.

ConnectCRE also says Google leased the two seven-story buildings at nearby Moffett Gateway, with both projects developed by Jay Paul Co.

The renewal comes as other large companies are reportedly taking steps to reduce or rework their space needs in the region, ConnectCRE notes.
