Most Indian SME IPOs debut at a premium, B2K Analytics says

In H1 CY2026, 78 SME IPOs raised ₹3,752 crore, and fresh capital made up nearly 95% of total issue sizes amid tougher market conditions.

Nearly three out of four SME IPOs in India since 2020 have debuted at a premium, according to a report by B2K Analytics cited by LiveMint Markets.

Between 2020 and June 2026, 963 SME IPOs were listed, with 704, or 73.1%, launching above their issue price. Another 173 listed at a discount, while 86 closed at their issue price. The share of IPOs producing listing gains has moderated in recent periods, with the proportion falling to 60.6% in 2025 and 50% in H1 CY2026.

The report also pointed to a shift in investor focus toward fundamentals, profitability, and valuations rather than listing-day gains. Even as market volatility and geopolitical tensions weighed on activity, companies still raised substantial capital during the first half of calendar year 2026.

In H1 CY2026, 78 SME IPOs raised ₹3,752 crore, compared with 88 IPOs raising ₹4,004 crore in the same period a year earlier. Fresh capital accounted for ₹3,555 crore, or nearly 95% of total issue size, while offer-for-sale fell to ₹197 crore from ₹328 crore in H1 CY2025.
