United Soybean Board appoints Courtney Knupp as CEO
Knupp takes over effective Oct. 1, succeeding in the role after nearly two decades spanning agriculture, international trade, and public policy.
The United Soybean Board has named Courtney Knupp as its new chief executive officer, effective Oct. 1, according to World Grain. The farmer-leaders who make up the USB board ratified the appointment during a board meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, on July 21.
Knupp currently serves as director of global supply chain at the US National Security Council, where she coordinates US policy aimed at strengthening resilience across the agriculture and food sectors. World Grain also notes she previously worked at the USDA as a senior policy adviser focused on trade and food safety.
Her background includes checkoff and export related roles, including vice president of international market development at the National Pork Board, where US pork exports grew to $8.6 billion, and director of global animal and aquaculture nutrition at the US Soybean Export Council. World Grain says she also held chief of staff roles at the USDA and international trade policy responsibilities for the National Pork Producers Council.
Knupp said soy affects daily life through food, animal feed, and fuel and industrial uses, and described the checkoff mission as delivering value back to the farm gate. World Grain reports the USB oversees the US Soybean Checkoff and its work to deliver “sustainable soy solutions”.
